Touring Stockholm, Sweden during a marathon

These kids are seriously troopers.  We hauled them around with us almost every single day to a new city filled with walking, walking and more walking.  They were amazing!  Stockholm was filled with a lot of walking due to a marathon taking place and closing down all the trams and buses.  We kind of missed out on being able to tour around in some of the museums because of the marathon but we still got to see a ton of Stockholm.  I think we walked 10 miles that day.

Isn't this the cutest couple ever?  Miles' parents are so cute and were so patient touring with us.

What is Sweden without a picture of a Troll?  I love it!  After this picture Anika sweetly rubbed his beard and whispered secrets to him.  I wish I could have heard what she was saying, it was pretty cute.

Here we are down 'Priest's Lane'.  See the symbol in the top right corner of the picture?  This symbol, a flaming phoenix under red-crown medallions, it basically told the firefighters that they paid for insurance and their house could be saved in case of a fire.

The family in and around the Rick Steves telephone.  Yes, we are that obsessed with our own personal tour guide throughout Europe that we got a picture of the phone booth.

This is Swedens own tiny statue, the Iron Boy.  You can rub his head for good luck, or for wisdom.  The statue supposedly honors the orphans who had to transfer cargo from the ships at sea to the ships on the lakes before the locks were built in Stockholm.

This is Stockholm's Oldest Square, Stortorget.  When we were there they had an orchestral playing music, it was so pretty.  The building on the right is the Stock Exchange (now the home to the Nobel Museum), right in front of this building is where the orchestra was playing.  I personally love the old buildings straight back, right over those cute kids' heads.

  1. I've been looking forward to your Stockholm pictures, it makes me wonder how different our lives would be if we moved there instead of New Zealand! I'm seriously so sad your Germany adventure is over, I have loved tagging along through your blog!
