Touring Russia for a Day

The first day the kids spent the day in the kids club on the cruise ship.  We decided that the Hermitage probably would be the best place for 5 kids.  Best. Decision. EVER!  On day two the kids had to come with us, they had to experience St. Petersburg.  We drove around in the bus a TON and weren't allowed to get out and take a lot of pictures.  But with the few stops that we did have freedom to walk around we took advantage.

First Stop ... The Church of the Spilled Blood
(my kids know it as the Candy Church because it looks like it has Candy all over it)

The kids with their new buddy.  This cute little boy didn't speak any English or German but that didn't stop us from becoming fast friends with him.  He was our good friend for almost the whole day ... until we were all tired and some perfect stranger took over the role of dad to help his mom out.  Seriously, people can be so SO kind if given the chance.  And, how could you not help this cute little guy?  I mean, come on, nobody can resist that cute smile.

Paige would take a picture of him and then show him how cute he looked in the picture

Evan had the whole 'big brother' role down!

In the middle of the day we stopped for lunch at this building here.  It was perfect timing and was pretty good food.  The kids were so hungry.

Next Stop ... The Peterhof Palace

For a price you could get your picture taken with this lovely, time-period, couple.

My crazy girl with the Peterhof fountain in the background.

Here are our family pictures (above and below) ... We were lucky enough to have Grandma and Grandpa come along with us on the cruise.  I'm not quite sure if they felt lucky but we liked having their company.

Lastly, our lovely tour guides!  Our English speaking tour guide, Daria, is on the Left and the French speaking tour guide is on the Right.  See how skinny they are?  Russian women are seriously skinny, at least all of the ones that I saw walking around the city!
