We did another walking tour here (like we did in Bath). Unfortunately, our guide was not as captivating as the one in Bath. The kids therefore were not interested ... al all. Instead of listening to all the Roman history that York had to offer, the kids collected rocks and played in the fountain.
We got to walk along the city walls of York - which we loved! I don't know why but our family loves to climb up things!
I was so excited when I got this picture, I thought it depicted York pretty well. Then when I was buying post cards for my cousin I came across a card that was identical to this picture. Neat, huh? Of course, theirs was much better, but it's the same shot ... right?
The kids in an alley way leading up to the back of the York Minster
The Ramble the Shambles - the narrow street of the butchers
York Minster
Walking around York we ran into these ... owls!
It was 3 pounds to hold an owl (I know, totally outrageous, but still totally cool!) So we let the girls each old an owl. Evan did NOT want to hold the owl, or the hawk. Instead, he wanted to ride the carousel - seriously, the carousel instead of an owl.
Clifford's Tower
This is all that is left of York's 13 c. castle
The kids on top of Clifford's Tower with a pretty cool view of York in the background. We took a series of these pictures and Anika is making a face in every single one, it's funny to scroll thru them fast
The kids running along the medieval city walls, which aren't very safe but is mild compared to what is was like a few meters further down. I love how Emi is pretending to be shooting her bow at the enemies down below, while Evan is trying to win the 'race'.
An old city gate we had just walked down from in order to get to our hotel
